Vytautas Magnus University - VDU

Vytautas Magnus University, established in 1922 (reestablished in 1989) is one of the most liberal and modern universities in Lithuania. There are 9 faculties at the university: Humanities, Economics and Management, Informatics, Natural Sciences, Social Sciences, Catholic Theology, Law, Political Science and Diplomacy and Arts. Together they offer more than 70 Bachelor and Master degree programs as well as 16 doctoral programs.

University coordinates or participates as partner in a considerable number of different national and international projects supported by the EU Structural Funds, EU Lifelong Learning, Framework Programs. Currently more than 140 projects are being implemented at the University.

Centre for Vocational Education and Research was founded as a structural unit of Vytautas Magnus University under the initiative of Lithuanian Ministry of Education and Science. The main task of the Centre is research on the VET system and its changes in the context of Lithuanian and global processes and the main tendencies of VET development, and also concern about the intellectual potential (training of teachers and specialists of management in all the levels) of the VET system. The Centre performs the research into VET, labor market, qualifications and human resources development. The main areas of research: VET curriculum design, qualifications and competences of VET teachers and trainers, designing and implementation of the National Qualifications Frameworks and Systems. The staff consists of 12 researchers.
